After jumping into the top-25 rankings, the women’s basketball team fell to second-ranked Whitman last night in Fieldhouse, 84-69.

Despite being outrebounded 40-21, the Pirates stayed in the game with outside shooting. Senior forward Kendra Lahue connected on four of her seven shots beyond the arc. Sophomore guard KC McConnell was 2-2, senior guard Kayla Johnson was 2-3, sophomore guard Lexie Zappone was 2-5 and sophomore guard Alexis Mcleod was 1-1.

The Pirates were not able to slow down the Whitman offense who shot 55% from the field, 57% from behind the arc and 95% from the foul line on the game.

Lahue lead the Pirates with 16 points and three rebounds, Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while McConnell added 11 points and four assists.

Whitworth will compete against Lewis & Clark on Friday in their last regular season game.
