The Whitworth Men’s Tennis team defeated Puget Sound 8-1 for their second Northwest Conference win of the season. The Pirates are now 2-1 in NWC play, and 3-4 overall. UPS fell to 1-2, 1-2. The Pirates’ only loss of the day came in No. 3 doubles, as sophomores Micah Spaun and Cameron Williams lost a close match (9-7) to sophomore Michael Cutter and senior Alex Harrison. Whitworth senior Colin Zalewski played well in both of his matches, winning 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, and 8-0 with senior Joe Wales in No. 1 doubles. The closest match of the day was senior Colin Barrett’s No. 5 singles which he took 4-6, 6-4, 12-10. Whitworth junior Daniel Redfern won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
